Sleipnir is the Height Legs Horse of Odin!

In Norse mythology, Sleipnir is Odin's magical eight-legged steed, and the greatest of all horses. His name means smooth or gliding, and is related to the English word "slippery".

The birth of Sleipnir

Thor, the Giant-Slayer, was away from Asgard slaying giants in the north, when a hrimthurs disguised as a human stonemason appeared, offering to rebuild the wall all around Asgard in exchange for the sun, the moon, and fair Freyja. The gods agreed, thinking that it would be good, since part of the wall was crumbling, and also believing the giant would never be able to complete it in the agreed upon six month time frame. The giant asked one thing: the use of his gray stallion, Svadilfari (literally, "slave", or possibly "ill-fated"). Loki quickly agreed before any of the other gods could reply.
The work began. Using the stallion, the giant began building the wall, and was well on his way to receiving the sun, the moon, and Freyja. The gods, seeing this, became furious at Loki, and said if they lost the sun, the moon, and Freyja, they would torture Loki eternally (which happened later anyway). Then, as Svadilfari was dragging the final brick to complete the wall back to Asgard, Loki transformed into a beautiful white mare, and led the stallion away, angering the giant. When the giant began tearing down the wall, Thor appeared and smashed the giant on the head with his hammer, Mjollnir.
Loki later gave birth to Sleipnir, the eight-legged steed of Odin, the offspring of the gray stallion Svadilfari and Loki when "he" was the beautiful white mare.

Sleipnir è, nella mitologia norrena, il cavallo di Odino.
Di color grigio, dotato di otto zampe, è il migliore cavallo che esista, il più veloce, in grado di cavalcare il cielo e le acque, e anche lungo gli altri mondi. Il suo nome significa "colui che scivola rapidamente".
La nascita di Sleipnir [modifica]

Snorri Sturluson, basandosi su vaghi accenni contenuti nella Völuspá, racconta la nascita di Sleipnir.
Un abile costruttore aveva stretto un patto con gli Dei: in diciotto mesi avrebbe eretto un muro possente in grado di difenderli dai giganti, loro nemici; in cambio avrebbe ricevuto in dono Freyja, il Sole e la Luna. Gli dei, su consiglio di Loki accettarono, ma a patto che il muro fosse terminato entro l'Estate. Quando però mancavano solo tre giorni all'Estate era ormai evidente che il costruttore sarebbe riuscito a finire in tempo la sua opera, anche grazie all'ajuto di Svaðilfœri, il suo possente cavallo. Gli dèi decisero che si doveva fare qualcosa, se non volevano perdere Freyja. Si interrogarono su chi avesse spinto per accettare il patto, e quando si ricordarono che era stato Loki lo costrinsero a rimediare. Lui si trasformò in puledra, sedusse Svaðilfari facendosi inseguire per un giorno e una notte, interrompendo così i lavori. Ripeté il trucco per tutte le tre notti e i tre giorni seguenti. Quando fu evidente che il muro non sarebbe stato completato per tempo, il costruttore fu preso da un'ira bestiale, rivelando che in realtà era egli stesso un gigante. E allora Thor, che dei giganti è il maggior nemico, gli fracassò il cranio con un colpo di Mjöllnir, il suo martello.
In seguito Loki partorì da Svaðilfari un puledro grigio con otto zampe, Sleipnir, che divenne il cavallo di Odino. Poiché è il cavallo più veloce e possente di tutti.
